Technical Skills

For a non-technical person, I have accumulated a considerable number of technical skills over the years. I pride myself on being an early adopter of technology. I was even the first one on my team to learn Perl when it was released, the first to take a Java course, and the first to learn CSS. While I am by no means a software developer, I believe it is important to understand the basic concepts of software development to be an effective software designer. If a developer tells me something is difficult or impossible to do, I want to understand enough to know if the developer is being lazy or if there are legitimate reasons why something might be challenging.

In addition to all the standard productivity tools (Office suite, email, IM, Skype, etc.), here are some of the other technologies that I’m fluent with:

Web Technologies

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • WordPress
  • Joomla
  • Text Pattern

Creative Tools

  • Photoshop
  • Lightroom
  • Illustrator
  • OmniGraffle
  • SketchUp

Video Editing

  • Adobe Premiere
  • Final Cut Pro
  • Camtasia
  • Quicktime Pro

  • vi
